Carnaval San Francisco 2017

On the Parade Route
This year was the 39th Annual Carnaval SF Festival held on Memorial Day weekend. For me the highlight of the event is the parade on Sunday. I always arrive early in the morning in order to shoot photos during the staging. Starting at about 8 AM, people are arriving, hanging out, getting makeup on, and doing some last minute rehearsing. During this time I’m strolling and I’m pretty relaxed. Once the parade starts it’s busy as hell, running, shooting dancing and marching, and it’s a ball, but tiring.

  3. Beautiful colors! I appreciate how you give me a way to be almost there when it can’t be in person. We all need that respite from the daily Washington madness.
    Thank you Fletcher!
